Lightning safety: checking your system for true protection
Bremer county extension director notes a Minnesota survey finding half of tested systems had broken ground cables. If older than five years, reconditioning may be needed. Remodeling, repairs, or additions can loosen or disconnect conductors. Ensure air terminals, grounds, and bonds meet guidelines and hire a qualified contractor. The Lightning Protection Institute can help locate reputable installers.
