Farmer Foos Finds Barnyard Speak Easy After Roosters Hiccup
In Livingston New Jersey farmer Jacob Foos reports his barnyard animals acting drunk after a damp whiskey barrel kept near the henhouse heated by sun. Veterinarian W F Merrill concludes the alcohol caused the delirium with roosters crowing hoarsely and hens clucking in guttural tones. Foos considers burning the barrel but chickens seek malt from a silo, leading to a new form of dissipation as he contemplates breaking the habit to prevent wandering for stronger drink.
