Porter and Landers at Vincennes joint debate draws crowds
A large crowd from Porter and Landers camps gathered in Vincennes for their joint debate. A 7000 strong audience at the fairgrounds heard the discussion while a Sullivan Garfield Escort led Porter’s supporters through the city to a rousing reception at the LaPlante house. Fireworks and cheers followed, though a minority from the opposing side hurled rocks at the torchlight procession.
