Louis W. Emerson of Mt. Vernon Illinois was nominated for secretary of state by Republicans in a statewide primary held Wednesday. He is a brother of Mrs Otto Krug of this city. Emerson and Krug organized a dry goods store here years ago, Emerson later retired, and Krug retired recently. Emerson has visited here often.
