Miss Martha Davis a longtime Sullivan resident and business figure died yesterday in her Davis hotel apartment after a prolonged illness from cirrhosis of the liver. Funeral Thursday at 2 pm at her brother Charles L. Davis’s North Court street home conducted by Rev. John McD. Horne. Burial Center Ridge cemetery. She helped run the John Davis Dry Goods Co with her sister and later managed the Davis hotel with Joe S. Reed. She was a painter and outdoors lover, member of the Christian church and local Daughters of Rebekah and Eastern Star. Survived by three sisters and two brothers.
