Frank Crooks shot Harve Marlow in the right arm in front of Homer Marlow's saloon at Caledonia on Sunday evening. The cause is unknown. Crooks is a coal weigh man, son of Jonathan Crooks. Marlow was not seriously hurt. A separate incident Monday at Caledonia saw Thomas Hanks shoot Carl Shepherd in the right arm at Marlow's saloon. Shepherd does not know why Hanks fired. Witnesses say Hanks was roasting. Crooks and Hanks have not been arrested. Shepherd not seriously injured.

Brakeman Killed At Dugger In Railroad Accident
A. H. Herrick, 28, brakeman for the Indianapolis Southern, was instantly killed Friday near Dugger. He used a pole to push a car from a side track. the pole slipped, he fell between the car and the attached freight train, and was crushed to death. Herrick resided at Mattoon, Illinois, and was unmarried.
