Organized Labor Day Celebrations Mark Sullivan County
Labor unions held a large Labor Day gathering in Sullivan County with speeches by Rev Francis Rev Jim Sanders and John C Chaney praising growth. The parade drew about 400 participants while town business closed, drawing complaints about saloons and limited shopping during the day.

Ex Convict Gott Captured Near Here
Harvey Gott wanted for an alleged assault on a girl named Hayes employed as a domestic. He was arrested Sunday at Linton by J W Devolt a special officer from Michigan City prison, then returned there Monday. Gott had served time in this county for stabbing a man years ago. Mrs Jesse Haddon of Dana visits sister south of Sullivan to see her father John Griffith who recently returned from England.

High Class Wedding in Terre Haute Court House Dome
Charles O. Thompson of Fairbanks and Bessie A. Wilson of Pimento married by Justice W. A. Church at the Terre Haute courthouse tower 180 feet above ground. The couple sought a novel ceremony with elevator man William Cook and janitor Hedges assisting. The ascent was strenuous but the pair were pronounced married after a brief ceremony.

Explosion at Bogle mine injures three miners and claims death
An explosion of gas at the Bogle mine near seven o'clock Tuesday morning severely burned David Price John Lewis and Claude Laffoon who were at work near the blast. Price died Tuesday morning and Zack Price, previously ill with consumption, also died. Price’s wife and son Aud traveled to Sullivan with the body and kin expect to reach Thursday with the remains.

Old Settlers Meeting Draws Few But Noted Attendees
The annual Sullivan and Knox counties old settlers gathering met at Diess grove near Bethlehem with Carlisle and Freelandsville bands providing music. Will Hays spoke impressively while reminisces dominated the day despite some rain. Notable attendees included Perry Lisman 85 and John Starner 86. Starner built the old Carlisle schoolhouse brick. Mrs Elizabeth Watson was the oldest woman present. The Union thanks Mr and Mrs Theodore Harper for a superb dinner.

Engleside coal mines south of Dugger have been sold after eight months idle. The buyer is New Linton Coal and Mining Co of Indianapolis. Principal stockowners are George and Taylor of Indianapolis. Taylor is president of Indianapolis Coal Co. and George serves as secretary and treasurer.

Foot Crushed in Cass Station Accident Requiers Amputation

Floyd Ragsdale Missing Since Navy Exam Attempt
Floyd Ragsdale of Carlisle who went to Chicago to take the navy entrance exam but failed the physical is missing after returning to Terre Haute. His father George Ragsdale died last Thursday from typhoid fever after a three week illness. All efforts to locate the young man have been futile.

Sullivan People Endure Oklahoma Cyclone Event
Mrs Perry Botts visiting Sullivan was carried by a cyclone near Anadarko Oklahoma. Mr O H Geagan and Mrs Geagan were thrown to the ground and against a telephone pole. Botts was swept one block but all escaped serious injury with minor bruises.
