Labor Day Celebrations Highlight Civic Unity and War Memory

Sudden Death of Dr. T. A. Mason in Terre Haute
Dr. T. A. Mason former Sullivan County resident and Terre Haute physician died suddenly at his home in Terre Haute about 2:30 a.m. from heart failure, likely hastened by injuries from a streetcar accident three months earlier. He served in the 11th Indiana Cavalry, later practiced medicine at New Lebanon and then pursued pharmacy and medicine in Terre Haute. He is survived by his wife and three brothers and was honored by G A R, Odd Fellows, and Centenary M E Church. Funeral held in New Lebanon with G A R and Odd Fellows honors.

Mrs Rosa Snclair wife of Austin Sinclair died at her home two miles south of the city Wednesday at 2 p m after chronic rheumatism. She was a lifelong M E church member and sister of George and James French. Survived by husband three daughters Mrs John B Roger Mrs James Greenlee Miss Libbie Sinclair and four sons Andrew George John and Henry Sinclair. Funeral at residence Friday morning conducted by Rev Willis of New Lebanon M E Church with many relatives present. Interment Center Ridge cemetery.

Marvin Ransford age 30 fell on a saw at Clay Jowell's saw mill two miles southeast of Fairbanks. His right arm was nearly severed at the elbow and amputated shortly after. He was unmarried and depended on his labor for livelihood.

Widow Mrs Wiley Miller Dies After Heat At Home
Mrs Wiley Miller, 68, a widow from near Antioch church north of Dugger, collapsed while canning tomatoes when the stove was hot. Her son found her dead in a yard chair shortly after she moved to fresh air. a prior stroke is believed to have caused the death.

Southern Indiana railway progress near Sullivan and Bogle mine
Work on the Southern Indiana line is advancing rapidly. The construction crew has completed the grade and laid rails across Busserun bottom east of Steve Leach’s place about six miles northeast of Sullivan. A section of the grade runs to the Bogle mine north of town.
