Indiana Farm Assessments Understate Value Trigger Board Increases
An Indiana investigation of 111 farms across Montgomery Miami Carroll White and Cass counties shows current assessments under the new tax law average 151.86 per acre while sale prices average 147.88 per acre. Horizontal increases ordered by the State Board of Tax Commissioners are vindicated as underassessments persist and local equalization is at fault. Governor Goodrich’s tax platform is cited as pushing reform toward fairer valuation and limited rate taxation.
