Slatted collar to prevent cows from suckling teats
A simple device to stop cows from nursing themselves using a slatted collar. Two inch straps of cowhide about 32 inches long hold ten to eleven slats spaced to leave a 1.5 inch gap, each slat sharpened at both ends. Buckled collar restricts head movement so the animal cannot reach its teats.
Proper Feeding of Calves for Rapid Growth
Keep feeding pails clean and change feeds gradually. Offer grain early and encourage calves to eat it. Feed sweet milk if possible. if not, use sour milk regularly but avoid switching between the two. Present clover or alfalfa daily to enlarge digestive capacity and promote rapid growth through high protein hay.
Mixing Calf Feed With Milk Prohibited Substances
