Freeny Hanged for Murder of Step Son in Franklin
George Freeny colored was hanged Friday at 3 o clock for murdering his 12 year old stepson John Robertson. Convicted on circumstantial evidence, he could not afford counsel. Court appointed an attorney who urged a guilty plea with life imprisonment, but Freeny refused. A jury convicted him and the death sentence was imposed.

Train collision grinds Mrs McComsey at Quarryville crossing
In Lancaster Pennsylvania on November 28 a two horse market wagon carrying Samuel McComsey his wife son and grandson from Drumore township was struck by a locomotive at a grade crossing near Ponton.
