Levi Springer Hurt In Missouri Farm Accident
Levi Springer formerly of this county was injured last Thursday while hauling a wool load to Doniphan Missouri. He fell from the wagon top and a piece of iron pierced his thigh. The wound is serious but reports say he will recover.

Watermelon Seed Bug Plaguing Local Growers

Enormous Yellow Poplar Cut Down Near Bicknell
The largest tree cut locally in years, a yellow poplar on the Dan Elliott farm between Bicknell and Bruceville, stood 100 feet tall with a four foot diameter at the base. Purchased for 100 dollars, six men and three contractors felled it at 11 am, yielding 5,000 feet of lumber from eight logs. The logs, hauled to the Bicknell mill, will be dressed for casing use.

Steam railroads and trolley lines begin work in Greene county
