Isaac V Buck obituary notes Civil War service in 44th Indiana
Isaac V Buck a longtime Greene county resident died at his West Washington home after a lengthy illness. He was born February 15 1844 in Terre Haute and served in the 44th Indiana during the Civil War. Buck married Amanda Terhune in 1866 and leaves three daughters Emma Atto Cora Maxwell and Mrs Thomas Exline. He will be buried after services in Morrison Chapel Greene county and Sullivan lodge No 263 F and A Masons conducts the funeral.

Boy Steals Express Package Rings Recovered

Mansion of Aching Hearts drains Harrington pocket
The Harrington Stock Company staged The Mansion of Aching Hearts at its pavilion theatre on Monday. An audience member from Chicago challenged the production revealing it copied The Little Homestead. Royalties were paid, manuscripts surrendered, and the playwright Macauley vowed never to produce the play again. Macauley, author of The Minister's Son and The Last Rose of Summer, departed for New York.

Largest Burr Oak Tree Fell Near Fairbanks Township
A burr oak once among the county’s largest trees was felled on O. M. Chambers’s farm about two and a half miles northeast of Fairbanks. It measured about 21 feet in circumference, nearly 7 feet in diameter, and yielded around 23 cords of heading while the top supplied several families with firewood for winter.

Roscoe Over son of P D Over of near Paxton died at his father's home Thursday afternoon after a lingering tuberculosis illness. He was 25, unmarried, and left parents, a brother Ed, and sister Ollie. He had spent a year in New Mexico and Arizona seeking health and returned home two weeks ago. He worked three years as deputy county surveyor in Sullivan and belonged to the Odd Fellows lodge at Carlisle.
