Subsidy lawsuit targets interurban line funds in Knox county

Taxpayers of Harrison township Knox county sue to recover subsidy paid into the county treasury for an interurban line from Vincennes into Pike and Dubois counties. The subsidy was added to tax duplicates after the election and first installment paid six years ago, but the road was never built as promoters could not finance it. Nearby townships Fairbanks Turman and Gill voted on a similar traction line proposal years earlier, and voters narrowly rejected it to avoid potential costs.
