Poisoned bait best for killing cutworms in gardens
Cutworms appear in early spring and damage young plants. The recommended remedy is poisoned bait: mix 2 level tablespoons of white arsenic or Paris green with 5 pounds of dry bran, add 4 to 6 quarts water with half a pint sorg hum or cheap molasses, let stand, then scatter thinly over the garden or at plant bases. Apply late in the day to keep it moist overnight.
