The 60-horsepower Alco of Dr. E D Thixtun, late of this city now in Terre Haute, burned after backfiring near Plainfield while en route to Chicago via Indianapolis. Automobile Burns Five Miles From Shelburn
Aauto driven by Billy Johns caught fire five miles southwest of Shelburn on the Graysville road. Accompanying Willis and Hill, the car was seen smoking from underneath and quickly burned to a wreck after an explosion in the carburetor. The cause is unknown, the vehicle partially insured, near Pittman schoolhouse. This followed two prior vehicle fires in the area, including one owned by Dr. Thix tun.
