Bingo grafts chase years of Sullivan county victims
The Sullivan county paper recalls widespread graft games run near circuses like Wallace and John Robinson. Victims included Hiram Hine of Haddon Township who drew $2000 from a bank and lost it at a side show shell game, and Bluford Burton of Fairbanks who lost $500. Thompson recovered his $1000 after pleading to circus officials, and others were duped by card tricks linked to supposed land deals. The piece notes repeated schemes by grafters and ends with a Barnum quip about fools.
