Lamp Still Burns for Walters Daughter in Baltimore
In Mount Vernon Place, the Walters homestead keeps a lamp lit night and day for Mrs. Warren T. Delano, daughter of William T. Walters. The tale says Walters opposed her marriage and later ordered the lamp to burn until she returned. The story grew into city lore and a superstition among locals and some Black residents alike. Mrs. Delano died in New York. Warren Delano, a railroad director, died in an accident in 1900s.
