Gill Township native Sgt. Paul D. French of the 155th Infantry Band in France earned Class A musician status in a formal test with about 50 men. He was transferred to the 7th Infantry Band on the front in Germany and describes travel, weather, and the joy of receiving candy parcels and letters from family during wartime.
