Leg Cut Off By Train Near Sullivan
Harry Sanders 18 son of Riley Sanders was injured while waiting for a west bound freight on Illinois Central tracks near the water works west of Sullivan. He slipped on ice and was thrown under the train. his right leg was mangled and his right arm fractured. Doctors amputated the leg above the knee. He is progressing as well as possible.

Death of Isaac Botts County’s aged resident dies at 72
Isaac Botts a longtime county resident died Monday evening at his home two and a half miles northeast of Sullivan aged 72. He was the father of Perry Botts of this city. Funeral services were held today at Palmers Prairie with burial in Palmers Prairie cemetery.

Our Big Snow Visited Sullivan Last Week

Ice Gorge Sinks House Boat On Wabash River Tale
A man, wife, and two children living on a houseboat near Merom escaped drowning after an ice gorge broke loose on the Wabash River. Floating ice cakes tore the vessel from its moorings and carried it downstream. The family jumped between ice to reach shore as a wrecked boat was sighted near Vincennes, likely the same vessel.

Fatal Runaway Accident Claims Three Year Old
The three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Wolfe of Haddon Township was fatally injured in a Monday runaway. While in a buggy the horse reared and bolted, tossing the occupants. The child was kicked by the horse and suffered a fractured skull.

Cyrus Fairfield, Merom’s oldest citizen, died January 21 1904 at age 86 years 1 month and 7 days. A native of Ohio he was a merchant in Amelia Ohio and New Castle Indiana. He leaves a brother S R Fairfield and sister Mrs Johnathan Bragdon in Merom and a daughter in Muncie Indiana. Death of George S Pollock in Indianapolis
telegram announced the sudden death of George S Pollock of Indianapolis after a weeks illness of pneumonia at El Reno Oklahoma. He was a longtime Sullivan resident and proprietor of a tile works near town. He was about 60, moved to Indianapolis years ago becoming a traveling salesman. Survived by wife and son Walter Pollock.
