Reed's Florida Letter: A Miserable Hunting Misadventure
In a New Smyrna letter dated January 21, 1910, Reed recounts a rough Florida hunt with Hoke, Chambers, Iseman and others. The group fails to bag any game as hounds panic at a deer crossing and the author contemplates self preservation before the guide halts them at midnight. The party ends day one empty, with hounds missing on day two and plans to return home. Reports of visitors Fred Hoke and Miss Maggie White accompany an update on local deaths, including Dr. Crowder.
