Charles Abel a farmer living east of the city had a near fatal accident Monday night crossing the C. and E. L. track on East Washington Street. He did not see an approaching freight train and turned onto the track to avoid being struck. The buggy overturned and was badly wrecked but Abel sustained only slight injuries.
