White Loses Homestead Case in Bright Light Ruling
The U S Land Commission ruled that W A White cannot homestead a Gill township tract on the Wabash River. Any title applicant must buy the about eleven acre parcel from the government. Well Known Fairbanks Woman Dies After Illness
Mrs. Lusetta McKee Riggs of Fairbanks township died Wednesday afternoon after an extended illness with cancer. Born in Turman township sixty eight years ago, she was married in 1865 to Greensverry Riggs, survives by her husband and two children Frank Riggs and Mrs. Mary Drake. Funeral held Friday at the Missionary Baptist church with Rev. Mugg officiating. burial in Fairbanks cemetery.

New Trial Denied by Higher Court in Miner Case
In the supreme court on Wednesday the Vandalia Coal company failed to obtain a new trial in the suit of I O Price administrator of Archibald Aikman estate against Vandalia Coal. The $7,000 judgment plus interest is due, bringing total to near $9,000. Aikman died in the Superior mine in 1907 when a motor car jumped the track. The Monroe circuit court heard the case about two years ago on a change of venue.
