Home Brew Store Raid Near The Narrows
Murray DeBaun and Ray Rankin were arrested by Sheriff Ed Douthitt and Deputy Edgar Collins on the Olin O. Parker farm near the Narrows on a charge of illegal sale of home brew beer. Sixty bottles were confiscated and both men remain jailed. Authorities say they operated weekly for three weeks and had a thousand pounds of ice on hand, suggesting a planned large shipment to meet Volstead fever in warm weather. DeBaun’s auto was found near the store loaded with empties, and the brew is believed made in Terre Haute and brought to the Narrows area.

Indiana volcano question sparks geologic debate
Indianapolis reports that Indiana may host ancient volcanic activity based on a study by state geologist Dr. W N Logan. The northern arch and limestone domes near Kentland Delphi Wabash Huntington suggest possible thrusting up to 1000 feet, implying past volcanic plugs. A citizen-led core drilling plan is urged to test the hypothesis.
