John M. Dirschl Jr. died from injuries suffered in a late August accident at the corner of Serth and Ashland Ave. He was watching friends fix a tire when a vehicle struck. taken to Auburn Hospital, he died weeks later. He leaves Margaret and Edward, ages 2 and 4, and was married in March 1918. Funeral rites were held at his parents' home before mass at St. Margaret's Church with burial at St. Mary's cemetery.
George Pond and Charles Block of the Morgan Park Military Academy are believed drowned after their 16 foot launch sank in upper Lake Huron during a storm. A searching party found the motorless craft, but no trace of the boys has been recovered. Pond was a sophomore at the University of Michigan and had secured a West Point appointment for 1927. Ackerman of Detroit accompanied them from Les Chevaux Islands to visit Pend's grandmother.

They nabbed the youths near 107th Street and Hale Avenue and handed them to juvenile authorities.
