Judge Charles M. Thomas yesterday forwarded to Otto Peemiller the chairman of the Democratic state committee a long letter declining the nomination to congress with reasons. The Times had no access to the letter but learned that his bench position made it impossible for him to take an active part in a court case. no suggestion regarding his future plans was contained.
The South Dakota newspaper men prepare to entertain editors visiting Sturgis next Wednesday. Secretary Schlosser expects nearly all will join the excursion to Pierre on the 26th, listing numerous drivers and spouses from papers across the state.
