J A Kilgour who bought Martin Brothers the Coe Jordan township plans a full farm modernization. The project includes a modern farm house, a wattle barn, a horse barn, a granary and other buildings, plus a deep well and elevated tank fed by a gasoline engine for water and for powering feed grinding. The works aim to improve stock raising of Short Horn cattle, with 40 head currently. The road through the grove is being upgraded and timber cleared to ease access and shed sun for stock. The completed improvements will boost local landscape and farm value.
St Johns Lutheran Ladies Aid plans to fund the reception hall in the new Y M C A building with help from other church groups. A farewell social in the old Y M C A rooms is set for tomorrow evening with costumes encouraged for fun. Also, a meeting for men to organize Bible study classes at the Y M C A rooms is announced for this evening.
James Summers of Hopkins township died suddenly at his home at 5 a m due to heart trouble. Born August 18 1840 in Franklin County Pa he moved west in 1860 settling in Galt. He leaves a wife and two brothers Harvey of Pennsylvania and William of Marshalltown Iowa. He was a Congregational church member and highly respected. the community extends sympathy.

The Sterling Union band performs a free concert in Central Park tonight at 8 o'clock. The program begins at 8 20 with marches and selections followed by solos and the Star Spangled Banner. John Prestin directed the event.
The Woman's Club of Sterling and Rock Falls moved yesterday from the G A R hall to the Royal Neighbors hall, which will serve as the club home. The new hall is festively furnished with furniture for patrons already in place. further installations will follow as the building is completed. Today the Royal Neighbors issue invitations for the dedication ceremony scheduled Wednesday evening next week with expected large attendance and a very enjoyable time.
The Sterling post office will not open Sunday morning due to moving to a new building. Movement occurs Saturday night, and service will resume Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 o clock for those visiting the new office. Officials expect some initial mixups but ask public patience as operations stabilize.
