Man Killed at Grade Crossing Near Round Grove
Edward Brandt a young farmer from five miles southwest of Round Grove died when his buggy was struck by a westbound freight train at Humphrey's crossing a mile and a half west of Round Grove. His horse survived. Coroner Limerick ordered an inquest. Brandt, about twenty, was the son of Julius Brandt and lived with his widowed mother and siblings. The accident occurred around 1 am as he likely dozed while returning home from visiting neighbors.

Mrs William Typer Dies in Polo After Illness
Mrs William Typer died at her home on South Franklin street Polo Sunday afternoon after an eight days illness from a stroke of paralysis. She was age seventy four and died peacefully with faith in Christ. She and husband William Typer moved to the Polo area and raised ten children. three died earlier. Funeral held at Evangelical church Tuesday at 2 30 led by Rev L C Schmidt with burial in Fairmount cemetery.
