New Roller Coaster at Black Hawk Watch Tower Near Rock Island
A new eight ride amusement device near Black Hawk Inn east of Rock Island will open in three weeks. Under Memphis designer O A Pearson for Duquesne firm Muir and Hepler it features a 1900 foot figure eight elevated track, forty eight feet high at one end and forty one at the other. Ten cars carry four passengers each. a fifty seven second trip climbs a steep incline then races around the figure before a brief pause. Each car has eight rollers on guideways and maple track with safety devices and upholstery. Completion is estimated at sixteen thousand dollars. The watch tower remains, with added attractions including vaudeville and band concerts planned for the season.
