Sterling to Rock Island line to be financed by an Eastern firm. Wright and M2Neil-Home will report to directors tomorrow and will ask stockholders for authority to increase capital to 1,500,000 dollars.
Directors Wright and McNeil return from New York with assurances on bond financing for the Sterling to Moline Rock River Traction line. Construction could begin within ninety days, with full operation not expected for about two years. Route likely from Sterling to Lyndon, with right of way secured and strong local support anticipated. Capital to rise from 200000 to 1500000, bonds also authorized at Morrison meeting April 13. Wright and McNeil attended Washington inauguration, praising Roosevelt.
Raymond Perry of Sterling, son of Mr and Mrs George Perry, has migrated to New York where he is building a foothold among master artists. He previously did design and commercial drawing but now contributes three illustrations to Designer for April praised for their exquisite drawing broad treatment and vivid depictions. Mr Couch, a traveling salesman and former Sterling resident in the shoe business, visited the city today.
Edna McBride of Espanola New Mexico wed Dr. Harry Shryock on Saturday February 28 at the home of Mr and Mrs Martwell Woodworth in Seattle Washington. The bride is a niece of Mr and Mrs E C Bassett of this city and well known to local friends. The couple plan to reside in Seattle and the bride’s friends here offer their congratulations.
Contractor McAlpine will begin operations on the government building as soon as weather permits. He arrived from Dixon with a force of men and workers have cleared the foundation. a postponement is possible if current conditions persist.
The Dixon revival drew over 11 000 attendees across three services yesterday with 477 converts to date. Sunday worships filled the tabernacle as crowds heard sermons on The Unpardonable Sin and The Atonement.
This evening several organizations convene including Painters union Company E drill, T. O. O. F. regular, Knights of Columbus, Knights of the Globe Official board, Christian church groups, Epworth league and First Methodist church activities.
Several thefts reported in Rock Falls last Saturday night include a harness from John Christopher a pitchfork from Charles Melberg and a buggy from Mrs Erma Lee plus a barn gear loss. Neighbors and a city marshal investigate while a suspected horse trading group fled the city yesterday afternoon.
A testimonial concert at the Academy of Music tomorrow evening honors Reginald Martin. Tickets sold out already as locals expect a premier performance while Martin’s past patrons from Sterling clubs promise strong attendance.
