June Weddings Bring Joyful Plans Across Sterling

Several late nuptials are announced for June with Henry J Flock to wed Anna Decker on June 29 at Sacred Heart Church. Flock, a Sterling businessman, and Decker are praised for character and community ties. Beebe and McWilliams married June 21 in Dixon. they will reside in Muskegon Heights, Michigan, as friends extend warm wishes.

Christian Endeavor elects officers at St John’s Lutheran

The semi annual election of officers for the Christian Endeavor society at St John’s Lutheran church was held last evening. New officers include President J M Larkey and Vice President Miss Lila Stevens with Miss Edna Walck as Secretary and George Struckman as Treasurer. The St John’s Lutheran Sunday school youth class also elected officers led by President George L Carolus and Vice President Daniel Ebersole with J M Larkey as Secretary and Stephen Weidle as Treasurer.

Rittorf and Hanson to Wed at Sacred Heart Church

Louis Rittorf of Rock Falls and Miss Anna Hanson of Waterloo Iowa will wed tomorrow at 7 o clock in the Sacred Heart Church. Rev Father H M Pegers will perform the ceremony in the presence of a few witnesses. Afterward the couple will travel to Yellowstone Park and other western points before settling on Ninth Avenue along the river bank.

Delivery Wagon Runaway Ends in Breakage on East Fourth

A George Wilcox owned delivery wagon ran away on East Fourth street causing a broken wheel and scattered groceries for several blocks after a frightened team struck a telephone pole. Jacob Fleck received a letter from H E Clinite noting unusually heavy rains near Swift Current Canada hindering crop growth. Mrs Gunlfead Aanle Block are both.

quartet delights large parish audience with sacred program

Ehe Weber quartet pleased a large Presbyterian church gathering Sunday evening with a special sacred program of singing. The quartet performed five selections, all of which were exceptionally well received. Ed Davis is confined to a big home today by illness.

Death of Mrs Henry Dusing after long illness in Geneva township

Mrs Henry Dusing of Geneva township died this morning at 9 30 after a lingering illness. She was about 45, confined to bed for a year, and leaves her husband and two children Annie and William, plus two brothers in Iowa. The family has the community's sympathy.

Afraid of the Scalpel Peoria Man Tells Police Tale

A Peoria man named Taylor arrived in Sterling on the Peoria train seeking police protection. He alleged his wife sold his body to a medical institute and that enemies were pursuing him, claiming danger from several men on his trail. Police doubt his story and consider sending him back to Peoria.

Fifty Years Of Dixon Baptists Meet In Morrison

The Dixon Association of Baptists opens its fiftieth annual session Tuesday at the Morrison Baptist church. Afternoon conferences for district pastors, an evening convention sermon by Rev. James Pierce, and three daily sessions through Thursday mark the gathering, with ten local delegates in official standing and many others expected to attend. No official anniversary celebration is planned.

Relief Corps Session Adds Two Members

At the W R C meeting in the local corps lodge room two membership applications were presented and one reinstatement approved. Mrs A Goodell of Rock Falls spoke on her abroad trip, captivating members as president Mrs Hitz and past president Mrs Nettie McGowan of Chicago were highlighted for their service. The group donated five dollars to Memorial University at Mason City Iowa.

Jordan Township Receives Pipe Culvert Tubes

Four carloads of pipes were delivered for township highways. Five pipes measure ten feet by twenty-two feet, and nine tubes are twenty five feet long with eighteen inch diameter. The tubes were hauled to Jordan this afternoon.

The infant child of Mr and Mrs David Teffer was christened at the home of David Mansfield in this city yesterday. The ceremony was performed by W Graw a rabbi of a Jewish synagogue in Chicago. The christening was witnessed by about thirty Jewish Russians residing in this city and vicinity.
