Police trace McClure girl and Taylor after elopement from Tampico. They are now in a nearby city with Hoch reportedly joining. Kalamazoo officials wired to a second town marshal for arrest, but no response yet.
W A Roe retires after twenty five years of service at the Weth Company. A new head is named to lead the casket factory.
Des Moines bound Lytle from Decatur replaces W A Roe as general manager at Rock Falls Manufacturing. Roe, with nearly 25 years of service, receives a silver smoking set from officers and employees. Lyle, with extensive casket and hearse industry background, will relocate to Sterling with Decatur Casket ties.
Mrs Alfred Petty, 1854 born in New Jersey, died at 10:20 a m in Prophetstown after months of illness. Funeral at 2:30 p m Sunday at the family home, burial in Prophetstown cemetery. Rev Mr Funston of the M E church to conduct services. Survived by husband Alfred Petty and two children Oliver P Petty and Effie Petty. Oliver formerly with First National Bank in Sterling.
General interest in William J. Bryan's assembly appearance prompts city to close business houses from 1 to 6 pm Friday. Some stores exempt. Newspapers plan noon deadline editions to allow staff to hear the speaker.
The North Belvi Dere kindergarten opens July 17 funded by a $5000 bequest from the late General A. C. Fuller. The school district will have five years to decide on further plans and to provide for the kindergarten’s operation.
The Mystic Workers held a meeting in the lodge room Izst evening with two initiations and two new membership applications. Martin was chosen to represent the lodge in the Clinton picnic on July 27, with a rail fare of one dollar round trip and a big local turnout anticipated.
A large audience is expected Friday as Bryan addresses expects a prominent orator, drawing listeners from surrounding cities to hear the day’s feature speaker.
The post office furnishings arrived from Dixon on the Northwestern road and were moved to the government building. Contractor Mr Alpine made the fixtures in Dixon during winter, including pigeon holes, delivery and stamping tables, and clerical aids. All pieces are hardwood finished and fit precisely. installation will be completed within days as workmen prepare the interior floors.
A U S court ruling prohibits police departments from distributing postcard style notices with criminals' pictures and descriptions to locate suspects. For years such cards helped public aid but must now be replaced by alternative methods to share descriptions.

The five day schedule includes concerts by the Union band Glazier Caro and Caro linians and an illustrated lecture Redheads by James Speed. The crowd is expected to be larger than last year with many attendees from outside the city.
Coroner Timothy Donoughe and a LaSalle county jury investigated the death of John Bramble found in his bed at the Hotel English in Mendota. Testimony showed he ingested about two ounces of arsenic intending self harm. No motive or clue was found, but despondency due to financial troubles was suspected.
The E and W clothing store plans extensive interior changes including moved wall cases, front hat display, reconfigured gents furnishings on the west, new electric fittings, enhanced heating and a metal ceiling. Dressing rooms will relocate, woodwork repainted, and walls repapered for a brighter appearance. An accident revealed west side shelving failure, hastening the improvements. A University of Illinois soils team led by Willis begins an exhaustive survey of Whiteside county farms from Morrison northward. They will test five acre plots to forty inches deep, analyze top and sub soils, and grow crops to assess adaptability and needed fertilization. The study spans multiple townships and aims to map soil diversity and agricultural potential for the state.
Helen Bent, daughter of Mrs. Paul Bent of Morrison, suffered a lawnmower accident last Thursday resulting in the amputation of a finger at the second joint. Miss Vena Bogart has taken a clerk position at Wyne-Deaver dry goods store.
