Grace Everett of Dixon dies in Rome Italy on Monday January 23 after traveling there with her children for her daughter's health. She long resided in Dixon and was well known to Sterling residents.

Tax Collector Harry Carroll Sets Next Week for Start

Harry Carroll the tax collector for Sterling township plans to begin work in mid next week. He will open his office at the Sterling Gas and Electric Light building and run it until all taxes are collected assisted by A H Hershey and Miss Fay McDonald. County clerk staff prepared the county tax books for delivery to township collectors for Tuesday morning next week.

Revival attendance at First Methodist Church

Large crowd attended revival services at the First Methodist Church last night. Rev J H Williams delivered a splendid sermon as attendees showed interest in beginning the Christian life. Services continue this evening with a sermon by Rev A Gage of Rock Falls.

A coal stove exploded at W L Riegers Eleventh Avenue home this morning causing holes in carpet and burned rugs. Eight family members acted quickly. no injuries, though Nettie Rieger nearly was. Fire later at Charles Owens Owens 500 Avenue and Ninth Street kitchen stove caused minor smoke damage. flames were extinguished with water.

Forgotten horse driver recalls missing steed in city

The ceremony was by Rev Nelson of Kewanee with about eighteen present. They will live in Sterling at 704 West Third after April 15 and leave for Chicago then California. The groom is a senior member of W T Galt Co and a prominent Sterling man. The bride is Mrs Weeks’s sister, well known and fondly welcomed in Sterling.

Wil Entertains Friday to Benefit High School Basket Ball Team
