Judge F D Ramsay's Morrison court concludes a busy week with several local interest decisions. Divorces granted to Mary Murnane and Myrtle R. Cole. injuries, appeals, and cognovit judgments noted.
A fragment lists Union High School music event dates and exams. The note mentions promotion of a musical program and academic activities at the academy.
The seventh annual Division A promotion exercises of the Union schools were held at the Academy of Music with a large audience. The class of thirteen from Central School presented an artistic program, with G A R members honored, flag decor, and stage scenes centered on Washington and Lincoln.
Miss Mary E Fields and Mr. Grant Templeton wed at 2 PM last Wednesday January 18 at the bridegroom’s home in Yorktown. Rev Smith of New Bedford Christian Church officiated. A wedding dinner followed with family and local guests in attendance.
Sterling won three games to Tampico in a crowd scene at Sterling alleys. EB Snyder led with 195 pins. Christ Baker posted 525 across three games. S Snyder, Deitz, Rautert, Baker and Hutten on Sterling's lineup with a 2448 team total. Tampico trio Stilson Glassburn Aldrich Stock Bayer totaled 2303. Next match set for Tampico Wednesday with a 1 PM departure and 3:50 PM start.
The Rev Wilson E Donaldson officiated at the funeral at the family home on West Third street. A large attendance of friends and relatives filled the service with tender words and heartfelt sympathy. Interment followed at Riverside cemetery with four brothers and several relatives acting as bearers. Chicago friends and local relatives attended and floral tributes surrounded the casket.
The Chicago papers report the death of J M Geist of Lancaster Pennsylvania a founder and former head of the editorial department of the Lancaster New Era He died yesterday from age related infirmities at eighty one The loss is noted by many Sterling residents who knew him
County Clerk Gen Howe and assistants report tax books will be ready for distribution to townships soon though state board delays have pushed back rates. Over time extra help is being used to finish the books at the earliest moment. Mrs. F L S Chapin has recovered from a three week illness confinement.

Donavin, once a student for the Catholic priesthood at Father Hagan's La Grange home, left the priesthood to marry Mary Elfelding. He was sent to Joliet to begin a thirty-year sentence for the murder of George Goyen of Steward. New evidence suggests other crimes, including robbery, influenced his plea. David Clemons a well known resident of Rock Falls dies at home after an afternoon collapse. An inquest led by Coroner J G Limerick found death due to apoplexy. Funeral services set for Saturday at 11 at the family home with Rev James Pierce officiating. He leaves a wife and four children and a brother in Massachusetts.
R J Myers of Chicago importer of walnut logs and limber is in the city at Peck’s gun stock factory sorting walnut squares for shipment to England. He has a contract for three carloads of squares and expects ready for shipment in about three months. Myers visits the city about once a year to secure lumber for European ports.
In Beaver Falls Pa Foreman Ramsay in charge of the Avenue G bridge project has fallen ill with a severe stroke of paralysis. A letter received here states he is in a helpless condition and may not recover though he can talk.
