City officials in Derby vote to continue licensing pool rooms despite conflicting state laws. Derby pool room had paid about 5000 dollars annually under a favorable act, while another state statute makes pool room operation a felony. Reform efforts and saloon elections have reduced city revenue by about 100000 dollars yearly, delaying tax system revisions.

The afternoon agenda focused on Fat Cattle and corn growing as full proceedings will be reported.
A handsome oak postal station cabinet with glass windows and a clerks grate was installed today at Perry and Perry's drug store as the new Station No 1. It follows government design and provides drawers for money and supplies. The station serves local merchants and others outside the main post office.

Epworth League of Fourth Street M E church held a pleasant evening in the chapel park. Despite a storm the attendance and a fair number of young people enjoyed a short program of songs and readings followed by an informal social.
