The mother of Mrs W W Diehl is reported killed after being thrown from a carriage. The incident occurred in a sudden accident, with authorities investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the fatal fall.

Terrible Runaway Accident Kills Evansville Woman

Mrs. Dora C. West mother of Mrs. W. W. Diehl Sacramento? No. Evansville Wis was instantly killed in a Saturday afternoon runaway at her old home. Miss Pearl Campbell slight injuries. Funeral at Evansville Methodist Tuesday at 3 PM. Rev. WoW Diehl to attend. West leaves four children: Mrs. Diehl Dr. T C West deceased John W West and Dorothy West. Community extends sympathy.

Unidentified Man Dies on Northwestern Tracks

The man who died by his own action on the Northwestern tracks Friday night remains unidentified. Hundreds visited the Morgue of Janssen and O Malley seeking identification, mostly out of morbid curiosity. The remains will be interred tomorrow at county expense if not identified within three days.

Pulford Plans Grand Savanna Mausoleum for Family Lot

Mrs. B. Pulford of Savanna has contracted a large mausoleum for the family lot in Savanna cemetery. It measures ten by fifteen feet with Vermont Barre granite and white marble interior, bronze fittings, and a five foot vestibule with benches. Construction begins this fall and will take about a year to complete. Mr Carroll Mirror reports. Also, Mr and Mrs E W Koons returned from a two week Auburn Indiana vacation with Miss Mildred Wilson visiting several weeks.

Lawrence Brothers begin remodeling the smaller Rock Falls factory building vacated by Butter Tub works. Hubbard & Werntz will occupy and plate for Lawrence Brothers and others. North wall torn down roof removed walls raised an extra story now near the river bank. A basement is poured to enable a large plating output.

Winninger Bros Band Debut at Academy

Winninger Brothers company arrived Sunday morning in Dixon to crowded houses. Beginning this evening they perform at the Academy for a week with the attraction Lights and Shadows of a Great City. Ladies admitted free if accompanied by a paid thirty cent ticket. The band's parade at noon pleased the crowd and showcased the music.

State Fair Race Program Speeds to Springfield Fall

The Illinois State Fair schedule runs Sept 30 to Oct 7 with a $15,000 purse across speed events. Big race day is Oct 1 with three events paying $1,000, plus a free for all trot. Daily cards include two harness events and two running races with AO rules, limited to five heats.

Illinois Farmers Institute Offers Free Scholarships

Illinois Farmers Institute will award one free scholarship in the College of Agriculture at the University of Illinois for each county and an additional scholarship in home economics where there is no Domestic Science Association. Scholarships cover two years of instruction at the university and college of agriculture. Rev Mr Holtzman, pastor of Zion Evangelical church, attends a district camp meeting in Freeport and will be away from the city through the week, likely returning to fill his pulpit next Sunday.

At a St Johns bible school class meeting a memorial committee was formed for Sarah Ryerson the deceased class member. The notice recalls her dutiful service cheerful presence and lasting memory. Also reported is Roy Smith injured when his wagon wheel ran over his toe near Dixont on Friday evening. Mr and Mrs Ellison of Magnolia Ohio expect to visit Sterling and Emerson. Mrs Ellison was formerly Ida Marron a former teacher in Sterling and Emerson.

Contractor Besler Starts City Excavation and Macadam Work

Charles L Besler of Cedar Rapids arrives with steam drills and pumps to excavate and macadamize twenty two blocks. He begins at the west Wallace street quarry with fifteen men and plans two work gangs, hiring up to fifty men, weather permitting.

National pistol match to be shot after 500 yard work ends

Sea Girt New Jersey August 27 military shooting tournament enters final phase as hundreds of expert riflemen rest after three days of practice. The national pistol match opens tomorrow with 12 prizes including gold medals and cash. team and other events follow to wrap up a packed schedule.

Finishing touches on government building nearing completion

The macadam roadway around the new government building is being laid today but cannot be rolled until the city roll out returns from Fulton. The interior work is nearly done and the new oak furniture is being moved in. The building will host the local post office in the near future. Mrs. G B Dillon returned from Chicago with a large stock of millinery, expected soon.
