Medical leaders from the River region convene to discuss tuberculosis control and patient care improvements. The gathering centers on sharing insights, trial therapies, and coordinating homeopathic and conventional approaches among doctors.
The Rock River Institute of Homeopathy holds a tuberculosis program at the Galt House with physicians from Clinton Morrison Dixon and Sterling and educators and nurses attending. Morning session covered business and new members were admitted. An afternoon program lists papers on contagion infection inheritance brain eye ear nose throat and treatment options with a banquet at 6:30.
Mercer county grand jury returns true bills against Mr and Mrs Archibald McKinney of Aledo for cruelty to Stella Grady. McKinney bonds $1000. Mrs McKinney unarrested. case set for April 17 with defense expected to seek continuance and possible insanity defense. Stella Grady testified, showing scars and fresh wounds as proof.
At the regular session meeting Moses Dillon was elected delegate from Sterling church to the Presbytery session to meet at Alexis NL next Tuesday evening. Rev Wilson B E Donaldson will attend as pastor. Mrs Donaldson will represent the Womany Missionary Society of Sol Sterling church at the same Presbytery meeting.
Mrs M J Brown hosted a spring and summer millinery opening drawing a large turnout of women from the area. Many visitors purchased hats, with some high priced pieces on display. A fine line of Gage hats was featured as the shop was tastily decorated for the event. The season promises strong business.
Telegram states he arrived at York Nebraska and will be home by week’s end his health greatly improved conveying hopeful news for family and local readers.
The Sterling Township High school beat Sterling Business College 29 to 21 at the armory in a rough season finale. Referee Byler blew the whistle at 8:30. Christopher and Wright led the high school with early baskets and Duffie tagged several long throws for the college.

Overholser I J and Christopher J J Baldwin C led by Robinson in Rey Umpire Maas with Byler as referee Hess as scorer and Koomis Bryan as timekeepers. After the game a large crowd enjoyed a dance until late hour with the high school orchestra delivering fine music.
The Lincoln Hose company held its annual meeting last evening in the hose house in the east end. Elected officers include Lt. R. Davis, Sec. D. A. Comstock, and Treas. W. F. Mangan. No other items of public importance were discussed.
Four new members join the Whiteside County Board with several personnel changes in the county legislative body.
The Whiteside county board of supervisors will gain four new members after township elections. Edgar Woods will replace Christ Miller from Montmorency, Adam Belen to replace James Overholser from this city, M. S. Murphy from Hahnaman, and W. W. Blean to replace Charles Olds of Albany. Ellwood Beeman of Prophetstown is rumored candidate for chairman with the present chair Christ Miller of Montmorency. The annual spring millinery opening started this morning at the Dillon millinery store and will run until Saturday evening. A large number of people visited today with exceptionally good purchases. The display features elaborate spring hats and music each day.
Chicago and Northwestern section men return to work after a near settlement. Peoria line crews remain on strike with wage demand up from 1.25 to 1.40 per day. A church board meeting at the First Methodist includes a prayer session.
A Dixon businessman received a Chicago written letter from Charles Ussher, the man recently reported missing in Dixon. The letter claims Ussher was returning to Dixon and references a prior disappearance.
A man was found dead on railroad tracks at Union Grove. Police identified the deceased as Christ Pfeiffer whose name appeared in city reports. No immediate suspect information released as investigation continues.
Coroner jury at Morrison concluded Christian Pfeiffer died near Union Grove on April 4 1905 either by a locomotive strike or a fall from a train. Identification came via Mrs Huehn who named the Dixon resident and union organizer as the deceased. The body bore bruises and broken bones. burial in Potter’s Field declined by relatives.
At a meeting in Washington, D C the Illinois Republican Association elected officers for the next year. Isaac R. Hitt Jr of Evanston was named president H. H. Martin of Chicago first vice president Mrs Elector E Smith of Sterling second vice president R Stone Jackson of Galesburg secretary W H Richardson of Abingdon treasurer Colonel Eugene B Payne of Evanston chaired the advisory committee.
Austin Powers of Prairieville reports heavy shipments of seed corn to Hiawatha Kansas and to four Iowa cities and other local destinations. He specializes in the Leaming yellow variety noted for excellent quality.
