The Script begins its 34th year aiming for top quality student journalism. Editors and staff trained at a University of Detroit workshop promise expert reporting and a strong team. Regular features include an editorial, Faculty Comment, controversial pieces, and letters to the editor. Letters must be typed signed and delivered to room 118 by the Thursday before publication.
An April visiting team from the North Central Association toured STHS, filing a 115 page report with strengths and weaknesses. Improvements already tackled include blocking off 4th avenue and paving the parking lot, while calls for more PE, a swimming pool, stronger English and math offerings, and broader extracurriculars remain. The evaluators praised the school and urged broad community support to reach an expected 2000 student population and uplift facilities.
Harold C. Sutter writes that a superior student body stems from collective pride and action. He contrasts immaturity with demonstration and urges that every talent be used for the school's welfare, hoping appearance reflects genuine character and effort from all students.
