Sterling joins Vietnam Moratorium actions in 1969
On October 15 1969 high school students in Sterling wore black armbands and gathered at Grandon Civic Center for a Vietnam Moratorium rally. Local officials noted the protest and said the impact on immediate action would be limited though Sterling claimed a role in the event.

Student Council Sets Course For 69 70 Dress Code Reform
President Kirt Kradle outlines plans to fix the dress code after a hectic start to the year. Committees II and III prepare reports, with Council to draft a Dress Code Platform for the School Board. Whiteside TB skin test at Sterling Township High School
On Monday September 29 the Whiteside County Tuberculosis Association in operation with Sterling Township High School sponsored a TB test for freshmen transfers and faculty. 486 skin tests were given from 496 freshmen 140 school personnel 12 HEMEL students and 7 students from grades 10 11 and 12.
