Debut Senior Luncheon Set for December 18 at School Gym

Welton and Rowland head the event with co chairmanship. The luncheon runs 11 45 to 1 30 featuring hot meat loaf and escalloped potatoes plus desserts. After eating dancing starts with a floor show and possible Santa gift.

Lambrecht And Cramer Cited on Radio Program

Two senior girls Lois Lambrecht and Jeanine Cramer were cited on the Citizens of Tomorrow radio program for outstanding acting in the senior play Headed for Eden. Lois played Rosina Blandish and was active in French Club G A A Dramatic Club Campus Club Junior Red Cross Council and Script Staff. Jeanine played Kate Roberts and is active in the band Dramatic Club G A A Campus Club and Annual Board. Dixon Homecoming featured her as Sterling's maid of honor. Both delivered fine performances and the staff praises them as Citizens of Tomorrow.

Dramatic Club Sets December 9 Meeting and Initiations

The Dramatic club will gather in the school gym on December 9 for the Christmas meeting. New members will be formally initiated during this event following tryouts held on November 20 and 21.

Jr Red Cross Plans Gift Boxes For Europe

The Jr Red Cross council met November 8 to plan packing boxes for Europe. On November 19 each member discussed the project with his section. Students are to contribute articles or money to buy items like pencils soap toothpaste toothbrushes handkerchiefs erasers and other small gifts for needy European children.

G A A Christmas Dance Sets Holly Dreams Theme

The G A A hosts the annual W P A Christmas dance on December 7 in the gym. The event titled Holly Dreams promises a secretive delight with a Davenport orchestra and a hush hush atmosphere. Committee chairs include Decoration Donna Battles and Publicity Carol Moyer among others.

Betty Bull LaVerne Siex and Lanna Welton were chosen as Jr Rotary Anns this month. Bull is noted for her singing and roles in student groups. Siex leads the band and directs Homecoming parade duties while presiding over the Home Economics club. Welton serves as co chair of the Senior Luncheon and pages scripts as business manager.

Choir To Give Christmas Concert In School Gym

The Robed Choir will present its annual Christmas program to the public on December 19 in the school gym. Also participating are the girls' chorus and the girls' ensemble.

DeWeerd Heads Formal Set For December 20 at Coliseum

The eight high school plans an all school formal on Friday December 20 with a Winter Wonderland theme. Don DeWeerd chairs the event with committees for orchestra floorshow decorations programs refreshments publicity and invitations. Students are urged to join in to showcase talents and help make the dance a success.

Sterling High Groups Attend North Central Music Festival in DeKalb

The Sterling high school choir with 250 voices and a 21 member band joined students from nine conference schools DeKalb Rock Falls Dixon Geneva Hart Township Mendota Princeton and Ottawa for the Music Festival of the North Central Conference on November 22. Harold Starck led the massed choir with William Tonkin accompanying and Forrest Bucktel directing the massed band.

Parents Night Observed December 5 With Robed Choirs

The event on December 5 at 8 p m features the Robed Choir giving short concerts. The board of education and faculty will attend along with several speeches. It was postponed from an earlier date due to conflicts with other organizations and invites all parents to attend.

Baile de Gracias Christmas Dance In Panamericana Gym

The Club de Amistad Panamericana presents a Thanksgiving dance from 8 to 11 pm with Don Juan Moreno and his orchestra performing Spanish music. Tickets cost 30 cents and proceeds fund a Christmas party for Mexican children.

Pictures of the senior class and class officers were taken November 4 5. All groups clubs and organizations will have photos taken December 2 3 for the annual.

Home Economics Club Joins National FHA

The Sterling High Home Ec club becomes a member of the National Future Homemakers of America. Funds for the national dues were raised by a concession stand at stadium football games. A committee of home economics students attended a district FHA meeting in Shabbona.

Latin Club Party Set for December 4 at School Gym

The Latin Club organizes a Christmas party to be held in the school gym on the evening of December 4. It will be the first evening meeting the club has held this year.
