Who Wrote Sterling Loyalty Song
The Sterling township high school loyalty melody was written by Harry Harmon of the class of 1916. He recalls being asked in spring 1915 by Miss Hershey and Principal Austin to compose a pop song, completing the words in minutes and the tune at the Y M C A. After minor harmony fixes by Mrs Alten Head, the piece was adopted as the official school song and remains in use.
