Faculty and Board Celebrate Gay Nineties Banquet

On February 17 the second annual faculty function was held at Jul's Danish Farm for faculty with spouses and board members. Miss Helen Peterson chaired. committees included Mrs. Peterson and others. Decorations featured oil lamps and lace accessories. place cards showed tandem bicycles. A barber shop quartet performed and tours of Locust Street and historic venues were reenacted.

Mr. Eades Attends School Administrators Convention

Mr. Eades left February 19 to attend the annual convention of the American Association of School Administrators in Atlantic City New Jersey. The convention ran February 21 to 26 with exhibits lectures and discussion groups from 9 30 a m to 10 00 p m. He returned to Sterling on February 27.

Easter vacation notice for school closing dates

Easter break announced with dismissal on Wednesday March 24 at noon and classes resuming Tuesday March 30. The message notes this ends the third quarter and urges students to prepare outfits and bonnets for spring vacations amid quarter exams.

Dramatic Club Inducts Twenty New Members at Fifth Avenue

The Fifth Avenue Players inducted twenty new members on February 2 in the high school gym. New initiates came from Senior Play cast and qualifying under try-outs for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. Candidates performed short skits before old members verified compliance with club rules.

On Friday February 27 1948 the French Club presented Simone Makes Good Impression for the Latin and Spanish Clubs. The cast included Polly Jewel as Simone and Phil Ward as Monsieur Daincourt with Miss Schick directing and Helen Ohms as stage manager.

Nursing career assembly informs students for Pan American Day

Students attended an assembly on Friday February 27 at 8:00 A M to learn about nursing as a career. A follow up assembly is scheduled for April 14 at 2 20 P M to observe Pan American Day.

Tuberculin Tests Administered to 8th Grade Students

The T. B. tests were given to 8. Hl. S. students on February 16 and read on February 18. Positive reactions will lead to X rays to determine the cause. Tests were offered to students with parental permission who previously showed negative reactions.

Practice Begins For Three One Act Plays At School

Art classes review a month of work while Drama Club prepares three one act plays. Students study caricature drawing and oils, with Art II advancing to landscapes and poster design. The dramatic conference will be held at Rochelle with the play New School of Wives starring an all star cast.

The Valen-teen Dance drew a crowded gym packed with students and alumni. Master of ceremonies Bill Stewart introduced the sophomore band and quartet for the first time, plus an entertaining duet and piano solo. The floor show ended with a grand finale and the group led in Peg-O-My Heart.
