Blue and Gold Eds Prepare Annual Sections

Blue and Gold editors and managers are preparing the school annual. Two sections are printed with senior and faculty pictures and administration details. The third section on clubs and activities is underway and the final section will show snapshots of school life.

Bill Taylor Killed Serving With Patton's Third Army

Bill Taylor a Sterling Township High School 1943 graduate was killed overseas while serving with General Patton's Third Army. He was active in athletics and the track team and an expert model airplane builder who joined the Air Corps before moving to infantry. He died in Europe fighting Germany.

Dan Stiles to Present Pictures on America Tonight

Dan Stiles will present a lecture titled These United States in an assembly program on Wednesday February 7. He will show color films on subjects such as North Atlantic Coastline Yankees At Work New England at Play or Lure of the Wilderness and Home on the Range. He has 15 years of observing American life through pictures articles books and lectures.

Weachers Honor Mrs Brokaw At Tea Party

Yesterday teachers and their wives gathered in the home economics building to honor Mrs Brokaw. She received a gift of glassware from colleagues. An impromptu male quartet of Tenors Farris Stryker and Basses Eades DeVoe performed for the guests.

Field Ambulance Goal of Sterling War Bond Drive

Sterling high school launches a Spring war bond drive to fund a $1,950 field ambulance by April 12. The campaign, begun January 23, includes class contests to boost sales and the district earns two jeeps for the Schools at War program from the sixth war loan drive totaling $2,577.35 in bonds and stamps.

Nephew of Miss Hunt Visits Sterling High School

Pvt. Charles Bud Ford, Miss Hunt’s nephew, spoke to Sterling High School students on January 4 and 5. A member of the ASTP at the University of Minnesota, he studies Japanese and its dialects and works on radio station WLB. Ford, from Spokane, excelled in drama debate and track in high school.

Miss Frahm Joins Home Economics Faculty

Miss Jane Frahm joins the Township High School home economics department as a new instructor. A graduate of Iowa State College she earns praise from students and brings prior leadership as dormitory president and adviser. Her home is West Point Nebraska where she prepared for school. Miss Busjohn remains as student teacher from DeKalb College assisting the department.

Harmony Kings To Play The Moon The Stars Heavenly Bodies

Harmony Kings bring a starry night to the S H gym tomorrow at 8 p m with a Heaven themed opening. Jerry Ksen chairs the dance as St Peter and golden gates frame the stage while Venus and her chorus sing with a six piece Harmony Kings orchestra. Numerous committees including floorshow decor and publicity prepare an all star production second to none.

Jamison Named Dean's List at Shurtleff College

Jack Jamison, member of last year's graduating class, earned placement on Shurtleff College's dean's list for his high scholastic average. At Shurtleff, students must maintain a 2.25 average out of 3.00, and Jamison met the criterion with a strong GPA.
