Senior Girl Chosen On Basis of Dependability and Service

Beverly Deets of Sterling Township High School has been named the DAR award winner for dependable leadership and service. announced by senior class sponsor Miss Doris Burritt after seniors balloted. Bev, daughter of Mr and Mrs Myron Deets, will receive a pin and attend a State DAR meeting at Edgewater Beach Hotel in Chicago. She leads FHA, served in Homecoming Queen’s court, and joined Junior Rotary and Girl’s State last summer.

Forty SHS Students To Take State Scholarship Exam

About 40 Sterling High seniors will take the Illinois state scholarship examination on Saturday February 1 at 1 p.m. The test is a scholastic aptitude exam to measure potential for college work. Applicants filed by January 10 with the Illinois State Scholarship Commission. Scholarships cover tuition and fees up to 600 dollars for 1958 59 and are usable at any accredited Illinois college or university with annual renewal possible.

Students bid farewell to last semester and brace for a busy term. Major events include New-Mor-Rock- Ster Tournament January 31 to February 1, Regional February 3 to 7, and Easter recess April 2 to 8.
