SHS Rules Changes Affect Spring Sports and Careers

The high school rules committee lowered the age limit to 19 and capped season games at 18 quarters, reducing varsity eligibility for several players including Jim Turner, Larry Braum, Rich Gallentine, and the Kosier twins. Turner and Braun can still play football but miss senior seasons in other sports. Gallentine loses senior year roles, and Kosier brothers miss major portions of basketball tennis and baseball. The changes, plus limited quarter play, may cut into SHS athletic depth while the Warriors beat Morrison Mustangs 78-64 in a January game led by Jim Loos and Jim Tucker.
