Davies Light Opera to Perform for Students on Feb 24
The Davies Light Opera Company directed by William Davies will present familiar light opera songs from The Student Prince Vagabond King Naughty Marietta Of Thee I Sing Rio Rita and No No Nannette. Solos duets and quartets with piano numbers and readings will fill a 2:25 to 3:25 Wednesday assembly period.

Mikado Operetta Chosen for Sterling High Spring
Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado selected as Sterling High spring operetta to be staged in April or May under director John Howens Glee Club instructor. Tryouts set for tonight in the music hall. Students with concert tickets from the activity fund to sell tickets for the show.

Hearts on Parade Junior Valentine Dance at S H S
The Junior Class hosts the Hearts on Parade dance on February 13 with Mary Jane Geyer chairing and Jean Brown decorating the gym. George Campbell’s orchestra provides music while Alice Mae Richards and Lucille Ohnen perform tap numbers, Lorraine Ohnen sings, and Mr John Ward closes the show with In a Chapel in the Moonlight.

Noted Biologist Brayton Eddy Addresses S H S Science Club
Brayton Eddy, renowned naturalist and lecturer, spoke to the S H S Science Club. He organized a live-insect zoo at Goddard Park Rhode Island under Metropolitan Park Commission, open to the public in September. Eddy joins Dr Gable as a well received club speaker as officers are elected.

Sigrid Onegin Delights Audiences In Concert Recital
Madame Sigrid Onegin, famed contralto, gave a February 11 recital that earned warm applause. Her final six folk songs impressed the audience, with pianist Hubert Giesen praised for his accompaniment and solos. Also noted, plans for an ice skating rink next winter on the new football field for S. H. S. enthusiasts.

Sterling Debaters Eye Sectional and District Tournaments
After strong showings at Wheaton and Augustana, Sterling debaters prep for the Mt. Morris sub district and DeKalb district events in March. The Wheaton meet saw the negative team of Lyle Shannon and Lois Musgrave win all rounds. Sterling placed sixth among 32 schools. At Augustana Sterling defeated Monmouth, Sandwich, and Ottumwa, Iowa, while losing to Elgin, Iowa City, and Rock Island. On Feb. 12 Sterling hosted DeKalb in four non decision debates with Salm, Barraclough, Wild, and Andrews debating affirmative and Shannon, Musgrave, Crump, and Longabaugh negative. Advisor Mr. Robbins plans extra practice debates to ready the squads.

Marionette Club to stage The Argonauts next Tuesday
Romani Hodierni members anticipate Sterling Marionette Club’s production of The Argonauts a classical myth about Jason and Medea. The twelve scene play uses about sixteen marionette characters and requires complex scenery. Last December the Latin Club hosted first year students at a Christmas party with games songs and treats.
