Barbara Bogott Wins Senior DAR Good Citizenship Award
Senior Barbara Bogott has been chosen as our school’s good citizen for 1961, selected from three top finalists by a faculty committee. She editors the Script, leads the debate team state champions, sings with Rohed Choir, and belongs to National Honor Society and Campus Club. She is a Minors State Scholarship semi finalist and has been admitted to Northwestern University’s accelerated program.

Berg Foundation to honor 140 area students on Feb 6
One hundred forty freshmen and sophomores from Sterling Rock Falls Newman and Morrison high schools will take a science aptitude test by the Joseph Berg Foundation. Twenty top students will enter a seminar led by Dr. Thomas Sellett. The Berg Foundation, started seven years ago, supports high school science seminars nationwide.

SHS Musicians to Champaign for All-State selections announced
The SHS musicians selected for the 1961 Illinois All-State Music Activity were announced by Prof. Paul Painter. Six left after school for Champaign Urbana to attend intensive rehearsals under U of I teachers and guest conductors. The two-day event ends with a 3 p.m. Saturday concert in Huff Gym by the Senior High Chorus of 1192 voices and the Senior Band of 259 members.
