The Presbyterian of the South weekly edition notes subscription price two dollars and fifty cents yearly with higher rates for foreign countries. It asks readers to provide full addresses for correspondence and mentions notices of death obituaries and resolutions cost one cent per word.
Virginia Richmond reports Sunday Day at Ginter Park Sunday School with 285 Seminary students and a $666 weekly offering. Union Theological Seminary grows and moves events to larger halls. Norfolk Presbytery met October 10 with new church plans at Prentis Park. Petersburg plans a $25,000 Sunday school building, to be ready by April. Several churches report large services, new pastors, and active youth programs amid a broad regional Presbyterian revival.
At a special meeting in October the East Alabama Presbytery selected Crawford A Pharr, son of Rev. J F Pharr, as a candidate for the ministry under its care.
In Mooresburg North Carolina? Appalachia, Mooresburg, Tenn, a church conducted services from September 24 to October 4 with Dr. George F. Robertson of Bristol, Tenn preaching. The campaigns led to about fifty reconsecrations and seven professions of faith. Morning school day services were held in the high school auditorium for children.
In Garland City Arkansas Rev M Marcoso conducted evangelistic services featuring Rev Wm Denham with strong attendance. Nine professions and seven additions to the Presbyterian church were reported along with a $25 offering for Synod home missions. The church sits in the Red River Valley amid rich farming land.
The Rev. R Excadery has opened a pastorate at Central church Mobile with a new manse costing nearly 20000 dedicated September 11. Twenty one new members joined October 1 and the Christian Endeavor Society was reorganized. A reception honored the pastor and wife on October 5 hosted by the Woman's Auxiliary. An auxiliary study and office for the pastor were fitted up at the church.
The Florida Synod met October 10 at St Petersburg with Rev D J Currie retiree moderator and Rev W A Cleveland elected to that post. A committee studied creating a Synodical College while talks featured Rep Wesley Baker on publications and seminaries with Palmer College president W B McIlwaine addressing Florida education. Next session slated for Tallahassee Orlando. Five new members admitted under pastor T H McConnell.
A large congregation at the Sanctuary of the First Church in Columbus attended fall communion led by Dr J B Meehlroy who announced 24 new members joining in the last three months and 45 since spring. Rev A D Wanchope praised for his weeklong evangelistic work and four weekly prayer meetings continue across the Genesis and Synod regions. The Dudley Avenue Mission will form a church with about fifty members under T B Hay of Columbia Theological Seminary. Jefferson pastor M H Peabody has received a call to another pastorate.
