Man faces charges after illegal mine intrusion at tourist site
David Eisenhower, in shorts and a light hoodie, spent over 12 hours inside a coal mine tourist attraction near Lansford. He faces burglary, reckless endangerment, and criminal trespass charges after being brought to the surface by state police and safety officials. He entered the mine Thursday morning and exited around 4:20 p.m. with authorities unsure of motive. He was placed in an ambulance for evaluation. A safety team and mine safety staff assisted in the rescue, and Eisenhower cooperated after initially fleeing into nonpublic sections of the mine. Police noted multiple warrants outstanding for him.
