Strawberry picking opens at Pumpkin Hill Farms with irrigation reliance
Pumpkin Hill Produce Farms in Nescopeck opened for strawberry picking on Friday marking the start of a drier May. Owner Harry Rosnick says heavy irrigation, frost protection, and a single cold night limited yields but helped crops recover. Vanquished humidity lowered disease pressure as corn, tomatoes and peppers required early irrigation. The farm plans daily hours 8 am to 7 pm with Facebook updates for openings.
